Engaging Activities for Teaching Food Vocabulary in Spanish Class
Teaching food vocabulary in Spanish is one of my favorite units of the year! I mean, who doesn’t love talking about food? Whether you’re working with middle school or high school students, keeping them engaged is key to helping them retain new words. That’s why I’ve created five fun printable games and worksheets to add to your lesson plans to get students speaking, listening, writing, and thinking about food in Spanish!
1. Word Searches - Define and Find Up to 60 Foods
Spanish word searches are an easy way to introduce vocabulary. Use these food worksheets as a warm-up at the beginning of class to increase students' exposure to new words.
Students see a list of food vocabulary words in Spanish, define them, and then search for them in the puzzle. Kids notice patterns and improve their ability to remember the spelling. After completing the Spanish Food Word Search, have students write sentences using the words using the sentence writing activity sheets.
With lists of 60 food words to find in two worksheets, plus sentence-writing activities, this resource is perfect for homework, fast finishers, an after-test activity, or easy sub plans.
